Turner Farm’s Veteran to Farmer Training Program is designed to provide the training and resources necessary to help military veterans transition into successful careers in agriculture. This paid, full-time training evolution lasts up to two years and takes place at Turner Farm and the farm’s VFTP incubator garden.

The program is designed to:

  • Train veterans in the basic skills of farming, including organic farming

  • Assist veterans with business and market planning

  • Connect veterans with members of the local food community

  • Help veterans find land and access to capital to start their own business

Turner Farm offers an impressive diversity of educational opportunities, including:

  • Crop and livestock management

  • Soil and pest management

  • Machinery and infrastructure maintenance

  • Produce sales and marketing

VFTP trainees will complete a season (April 1, 2020 – October 31, 2020) of hands-on work and classroom education with the Turner Farm crop production staff and interns. Second-year opportunities for VFTP trainees will also be discussed and determined within the first year.
