Grass Fed Beef

Our cattle are 100% grass-fed Red Devon. They are one of the oldest and most historic cattle breeds in the world, originating in Devonshire, England. They were first brought to the United States in 1623 and became well known for their hardiness, efficiency on forage and calm temperament. Red Devons are a medium to large framed breed that is known well for both beef production and ability to thrive in a grass based system. One of the breed’s prominent traits is the ability to thrive on pasture alone. Red Devons are considered excellent forages and “easy keepers,” meaning they maintain body condition and gain weight efficiently on grass and hay. This makes them popular in regenerative grass based operations.

Their thick hides and adaptable nature make them exceptionally well suited for our climate, thriving through both cold, dry winters and hot, humid summers with ease. In 2019, we added 5 bred Red Devon cows in addition to Reuben, a purebred Red Devon bull registered with Red Devon USA, to our herd. At over 2,000 pounds, he was a true gentle giant and played an important role in strengthening our breeding program while preserving the traits we value most in our cattle. Since then, we’ve continued introducing new genetics as we thoughtfully expand and improve our herd for future development.

Because these cattle naturally thrive on pasture, they produce an exceptional quality grass fed beef that is lean and flavorful. Diverse forage, including cover crops, clover, cool and warm season grasses, lends a subtle sweetness to the beef while creating a rich, clean flavor profile.
