This interactive workshop is designed to give participants the opportunity to observe and engage with draft animal power, as well as relevant tools and management systems in an authentic market garden setting. With over seven acres in certified Organic vegetable production, Turner Farm relies heavily on their equine coworkers to manage fields and crops. We will discuss and demonstrate tools and techniques for field preparation, various planting systems, multiple styles of cultivation, crop specific management and fertilization, and cover crop establishment and termination. Questions throughout are highly encouraged, and practical knowledge and hands-on learning is our focus. Whether you are a farmer interested in adding draft animals to your current operation, a draft enthusiast looking for ways to employ your work stock, or simply curious about how we farm, this class is for you.
