Franciscan Community Garden
Serving Wyoming & Springfield Township
The Franciscan Community Garden, a program of the Franciscan Ministries, has been operating since 2009. This large and vibrant community garden is host to over 105 gardeners. Many of them are recent immigrants and refugees from Bhutan and Nepal who come from agrarian communities, bringing with them incredible agricultural and culinary knowledge. Community Garden Program Director Peter Huttinger has partnered with the Franciscan Community Garden since 2015 to provide education programs, on-site technical support to gardeners, and participation in monthly community garden workdays.
Growing Together
Gardeners at the Franciscan Community Garden rent space for a nominal fee. Community plots also provide produce for donation, with an average of 1,000 pounds of produce being donated to local non-profits annually. Contact Marci Peebles with Franciscan Ministries to learn more.
