With guidance from Chef, you’ll explore the origins and cultural importance of this versatile dish, learn about the many regional styles found throughout Venezuela and Latin America, and prepare traditional arepa dough from scratch. You’ll shape and sear your own arepas before choosing between two flavorful fillings: savory chicken or squash and cheese.
As you cook, you’ll discover how a few simple ingredients can come together in countless ways. From working with the dough to achieving the ideal golden exterior, you’ll build practical techniques you can use at home. Once cooked, you’ll fill and customize your arepa with seasonal toppings, then enjoy it alongside rice and beans. We’ll finish the experience by gathering around the table to enjoy the meal together with a seasonal dessert.
